The Bright Bedroom didn’t start out so bright.
Warm white walls with a custom accent create a focal point in the room. Including the window in the painted panel shows off its historical charm. The color was matched from a blanket owned by the client’s grandmother. The heavy wool doesn’t lend itself to California’s warm climate so this was a way to incorporate the color and sentiment without the heaviness of wool year round.
Reorganization of the closet including a custom-made set of floating drawers removed the bulkiness of the standard dresser set. The drawers attached to the walls were built from half of an old desk. Varying depth drawers make for better suited storage for things from jewelry to unmentionables. Having all clothing options on display helps bring greater usability to a entire wardrobe as we tend to wear what we can see.
Finally, painting the back of the closet that same custom color brings balance and artfulness giving an otherwise purely functional space the character and attention it deserves.
